Cosmology

I like the idea of having cosmology and religion tied...it rings true with many real world religions, so it seems rather believable. So, lets start by making the cosmology interesting.

First off, we've got the planet. It's orbiting a yellow star, not terribly different from the sun. However, it's a trinary system, with three stars in total. One each of yellow, blue dwarf, and red giant, just for variety. The yellow and blue are a binary system, and that system forms another binary system with the red giant. It's a relatively frequent setup, though getting that mix of stars is a bit unusual. Still, not outside the realms of possibility.

Now, we're limited on planets, since systems like this tend to have fewer of them due to higher gravitational forces. We will add a planet to the blue dwarf, though. One on a similar, but retrograde orbit. IE, every once in a while, these two planets pass very near each other, resulting in some nasty gravitational forces and geological upheaval. Probably also people screaming about the end of the world.

Due to this shtick, neither of those planets can plausibly have a moon, nor are there planets further out than these two. Figure several smaller planets closer to the suns, as well as possibly an astroid belt, though. Just to make this crazy for anyone who wants to get into the spelljamming aspect.

What planets does the red giant have? No idea. I like the idea of a truly huge gas giant though, one nearly big enough to be a star in it's own right. Brings up possibilities for the future, in high powered campaigns.

Gaelicia -The primary planet. Most earthlike of the lot, orbits yellow star. No moons, 22 hour day, 328 day year. Temperate climate, with local variations.

Opponon - Orbits blue star. Legends exist of a few bold adventurers who have traveled there and lived. Rumors of exotic creatures and great wealth abound, but evidence of this is in short supply. Retrograde orbit, no moons, 16 hour day, 225 day year. It's almost, but not quite in sync with Gaelicia. The two planets align roughly once every 110 Gaelician Orbits(need to do precise math on this...its close though) and pass extremely close to one another. When this event happens, the near side of each planet is subject to intense upheaval and disruption. Earthquakes are often felt even on the far side of Gaelicia, and both planets bear the scars of this relationship. As a result, some religions fear or worship Opponon as a bringer of death.
